Marvel has just announced a cinema re-release of Avengers: Endgame, on June 28, with new content. It’s not an extended cut… the famous ‘end of film’ scenes (absent from the first release) will now include a tribute to a very special superhuman… Mr Stan Lee.
So, a fitting time to play tribute to a man who has inspired me since watching the Spider-Man cartoons – on Saturday morning TV in my early teens.
Apart from the co-creation of Spider-Man, his collaboration with others at Marvel – especially Jack Kirby and Steve Ditko – he was part of the creation of what is today, a multi-million dollar Marvel Universe, that includes Black Panther (my second favourite film of all time), Thor, the Hulk, Dr Strange, Daredevil, Black Widow… and the Avengers themselves.
Following Avengers: Infinity War (yep… my favourite film of all time – I sat open mouthed and left the cinema dazed!), the release of Avengers: Endgame broke box office records, to become the fastest film to break the $1 billion dollar mark.
So, after hearing of his death, and listening to the news on the radio on the way to a workshop, I quickly opened the day with a tribute to an incredible man.
Simply, Thanks Stan!
