Connecting Management & Leadership…

A South African First

Last week we launched the leadership component of Connecting Management & Leadership, the first SETA Accredited training programme specially developed for the Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) industry.

Sponsored by the City of Cape Town, 18 Team Leaders/Operations Managers – from 10 companies – have the unique opportunity to build both their management and leadership skills, in one integrated programme.


The programme is the brainchild of BPESA – Business Process Enabling South Africa, the not-for-profit industry body and trade association, for Global Business Services in SA.

BPESA promotes SA as an THE place for companies overseas to outsource (offshore) their business processes – their call centre operations – to stimulate local job creation.

We’re proud to be one of their partners to develop a skills programme that can make SA an even more attractive overseas investment opportunity.


Following the 4-month Management component – delivered by TULA – we began our 5 module/6 month accredited programme: each module beginning with a 2-day workshop, followed by workplace projects and assessments.

This month it was Discovering & Building Your Leadership Brand – the first step on our Brand-Specific leadership development programme.

Based on our three pillars of Lead Self – Lead Teams – Lead Change, Connecting Management & Leadership enables delegates are able to explore the their personal leadership brands in relation to brands they work for – and the client brands they service.


As always, the programme is powered by our unique Brand-Specific leadership development programme, with every module underpinned by the magic of Insights Discovery – the world leading L&D system.

Next month’s module is Emotional & Social Intelligence – using The Golemen/Boyatzis ESI model, overlaid on the Insights Discovery model – to deepen self-awareness, and extend knowledge into self management, social awareness and relationship management.


Both groups were amazing to work with, and the feedback on the start of the programme was amazing.

In the meantime, a huge thanks to the City of Cape Town for sponsoring the programme – it’s great to be involved with such an exciting project.

And of course BPESA. Great to see a drive for overseas investment though building leadership skills in SA.
