Insights Discovery…

Immediate impact, endless possibilities

The Learning Experience

Our unique workshop format breaks down the barriers typically experienced with standard training.

They’re fun, inspirational, easy to remember, practical in application, and deliver immediate and lasting results.

Every workshop is designed around five key principles:

  • Simple: Easy to understand and remember, so everyone can apply what they learn
  • Universal: Speaks to everyone, so your whole organisation can be captivated by the Insights’ magic
  • Deeply Insightful: Takes you to places that you never expected
  • Positive: Supportive, engaging language that empowers change
  • Fun: Energetic and vibrant experiences that create real excitement

The Learning Cycle

In 1984, David Kolb published what has become one of the most commonly used models of learning, based on two preference dimensions and creating different styles of learning.1

Kolb’s experiential learning model defined a four stage cycle of learning:

1. Have a Concrete Experience
Immersing yourself in the doing.

2. Reflective Observation
Stepping back and reviewing the experience – what did you notice?

3. Abstract Conceptualisation
Interpreting, understanding, explaining or even re-framing the experience – what does it mean?

4. Active Implementation
Applying the understanding to defining your approach – What will you do differently/change and when?

Whereas it’s possible to enter the cycle at any stage, and follow it through its logical sequence, effective learning only occurs when we complete all four stages of the model. No single stage of the cycle is provides effective learning on its own.

Learning Styles

Kolb’s theory identified four distinct learning styles, based on an individuals preference for watching vs. doing (introversion/extraversion) and how we process our response to it (thinking/feeling).

These four learning styles correspond to the Insights Discovery Colour Energies:

SYNTHESISING (Cool Blue) is learning through abstract conceptualisation, thoughtful observation, and analysis.

PRAGMATISM (Fiery Red) is learning through practical application and experimentation to find ways to make ideas work.

EXPERIMENTATION (Sunshine Yellow) is having a hands on approach and enjoying participating in learning with others.

REFLECTION (Earth Green) is learning through gathering information through experiences, and then processing it reflectively.

EFFECTIVE LEARNING

The Insights Discovery Learning System expands the four primary styles to the Insights 8-Types, taking into account an individual’s balance of colour energy preferences.

The Personal Achievement chapter of the Insights Discovery Personal Profile also includes a section on learning styles, to help strengthen natural learning preferences and develop an individual’s under-utilised styles.

Putting Theory Into Practice

As everyone learns differently, all our workshops and course materials have been specially created to accommodate all learning styles.

They’re interactive and participative, empowering everyone to experience positive change.

And, as enjoyment plays a key role in learning, 2,3 we always ensure that everyone has fun as well!

THINK DIFFERENTLY!

All the modules and course material of YourBrand™, our brand‐specific leadership development programme, have been specially created to accommodate all learning styles and optimise peer interaction and learning.
